The Restored “Empire” – A Foolish Ambition

July 18, 2024

Ord Cantrell, Fath – The latest news from the galaxy at large comes to you from me personally, Guildmistress Avelyn ca Vella, since Cortex is undergoing emergency maintenance. Due to the stance of the Imperial Union towards the Cantrell Conglomerate, this broadcast was hacked to the Galactic News feed via a simple hack as the Empire has us on their blocklist. [Editor’s note: please remove after reading]

The Restored Empire, led by Hatori Hoorl, broke off from the Galactic Empire in early-mid Year 25 with complaints about the treatment of aliens throughout Imperial space. Years ago, this may have been the truth, but in recent times, aliens have become more prominent throughout the Empire. For example, an alien is in charge of the entire group of nationalized companies, another, is on the Sith Council, Galen Darksol is an Imperial Lord, and various other aliens in command positions. These positions were not filled after Hoorl and his cronies defected, but in some cases, years before.

Hoorl and his co-conspirators sold secrets to the Rebel Alliance for months before their planned defection to fund their dream of a “Restored Empire”, which is proving to be nothing more than one man’s dream of being Emperor. How can there be an Empire without territory, very little Imperial technology, and a peace treaty with the Alliance? This is proving to be a group ran by greed with little care for anyone but themselves. The secrets they sold not only violated their oaths, but also endangered people underneath them.

Viv Curtana, one of the highest ranking members of the defectors, is married to the notorious pirate Tel von Sydow. What true Imperial would knowingly consort with such a lowly pirate? Their ties to Eyttyrmin Batiiv only reinforce their complete lack of credibility. They claim to not kidnap or steal, yet they kidnapped a comatose Sith from her bed and issued a (boring) press release to brag about their achievement.

While us in the Cantrell Conglomerate hold no love for the Empire, when we see the above from a group claiming to be the true Empire, we need to report on the truth to the wider galaxy – also, we find it quite amusing. Personally, we disagree with many Imperial policies – for example, the blacklisting of a neutral group that operates out of the Fath sector and their treatment of the retirement home known as Eidola. The slandering of the Governor, who has clearly been reformed after various drunken parties on his yacht, is still listed as an enemy on the Imperial holonet site.

Critics may question our motives – and they are most likely correct. We value technology, credits, and territory – of which the Empire has plenty and we do not. [Editor’s note: please share]

In conclusion, the Restored Empire is no true Empire at all, and is simply yet another pirate group trying to suck at the teats of the Rebel Alliance while coming nowhere close to being as infamous as Teniel Djo when Eidola was an actual pirate group and not a bunch of elderly has-beens sitting around drinking and fornicating with diseased Ugnaughts. Make sure you check in soon for an article pandering to the Rebel Alliance.
