The Lotus Flower
About the Flower -
The Red Lotus flower has a rich history dating back centuries. The flower is believed to have originated on the planet Kiffex, located in the galaxy’s Outer Rim. Kiffex was known for its beautiful landscapes and unique flora, including the Red Lotus flower. According to legend, the Red Lotus flower was first discovered by a group of Kiffar warriors searching for a new weapon to use in their battles. They stumbled upon the flower growing in the marshes of Kiffex, and its beauty and potential power immediately struck them.
The Kiffar warriors began to study the flower, and they discovered that it had powerful medicinal properties. They also found that the flower could create a potent toxin lethal to their enemies when manipulated. The Kiffar warriors soon began cultivating the Red Lotus flower, an essential part of their culture and traditions. Its manipulated properties protected the planet across centuries, staving off insurgencies from offworlders and warlords seeking to create a haven for their operations.
During the Civil War on Kiffex, the Red Lotus flower became even more critical. The flower was protected by the Red Lotus sect, a group of Kiffar followers who were dedicated to preserving the flower and its power. Its destructive properties had been abandoned, instead exploring its powers in hallucinogenics and abilities to commune with the gods. The de Chatillon clan, one of the most powerful families on Kiffex, also protected the flower, recognising its value as a weapon and a symbol of Kiffar culture.
As the war tore through Kiffex, the Red Lotus flower became increasingly endangered. The de Chatillon clan realised that they needed to take action to preserve the flower, and they boldly decided to transplant the flower to ensure its longevity for the clan and the Kiffar race. Its transportation was watched with intense scrutiny to ensure its safety before it was eventually replanted at the new home of the de Chatillon clan on Ord Cantrell, a planet with similar environmental conditions.
The transplant was successful, and the Red Lotus flower thrived on Ord Cantrell. However, the Kiffar people were forced to abandon Kiffex due to the war-torn lands, and the flower was purged from its original homeland. Despite its exile, the Red Lotus flower continued to play an essential role in the cultures and traditions of the Kiffar people. The flower was used in medicine, art, and even as a symbol of resistance against oppression. Today, the Red Lotus flower is still cultivated on Ord Cantrell, heavily protected and preserved by the Red Lotus sect. It is celebrated as a symbol of the Kiffar people’s resilience and determination. It serves as a reminder of the power of nature and the importance of preserving the planet’s unique flora and fauna.
Composition -
The Lotus are primarily perennial aquatic herbs whose rhizomes are attached to the bottom of lakes and ponds. The leaves of the nenuphar lie on the surface; they are flat with regular notches, rounded and split. Those of the lotus rises up out of the water at the end of a rather complex process of development. The first tiny leaves remain in the water; the second, more important leaves, float on the surface and then, as full-blown leaves, grow higher until the size of the petiole, bristling with plumes. After this the small, thin, dark green leaf with a bare petiole appears, this is the final leaf, and it is then that the rhizome is harvested.
In the same way, the flowers of the nenuphar lie on the surface of the water while the lotus flowers rise above the surface. As a general rule, the flower of the lotus is more significant than that of the nenuphar, its petals are more extensive and rounded, while those of the nenuphar are more pointed and narrow, attached in a spiral. At the centre of the lotus flower, a large fruit develops in the shape of a closed cone that contains hard seeds, whose germinating power can last for centuries. The fruit of the nenuphar ripens under the water. Lotus flowers are red, while nenuphars are white
Lotus or nenuphar, this beautiful and complex flower, which takes root in still water, carries a rich and powerful symbolism everywhere it grows across Ord Cantrell. Once harvested, the seeds are crushed into a small powder, before being wrapped into the red lotus flower leaves. These are then covered in boiling water to draw out the powers of the Kiffar gods. Its smell and essence radiate from within and almost immediately cultivate the senses of the maker.
