[BROADCAST START]

Interview

RAXLE REYAL: Hello and good day for all watcher of holovision screen. Today we talking to very famous alien jock, Zare Dairy, who is manager of famous Macaroni sport club and owner of Zare’s Dairy House. Mr. Zaza, thank you for invite me to your greenhouse. It smelling very strong of flower gardens.

ZAIR DAREA: [Massages his temples, exhaling slowly] First of all, Raxle, my name is Zair Darea. Not “Zare Dairy.” The name of my faction is Mecrosa. We are not a sport club, though we possess unparalleled athletic prowess. Do you even know how many of the last shockball tournaments the Phu Fighters have won? And this is not a greenhouse; these are my prized Dendrobium orchids! Touch them and I will have my security detail throw you into the nearest trash compactor. Anyway, this is not about Mecrosa! I am here in my capacity as the proprietor of the Zair Darea Trade House, which owns the media station you work for! You are an embarrassment to my media company. In fact, you are fired, Raxle! Effective immediately!

RAXLE REYAL: [Smiles lazily, brushing off his worn and patched-up suit] Ah, boss-man, you cannot fire me. Clause 88-F of Guild of Interstellar Broadcaster union contract say Chief Reporter with “unprovable historical credential” cannot be dismiss without twenty-standard-year writing warning and six hundred crate of premium space-melon

ZAIR DAREA: [Grinds teeth, hands shaking] Of course it is unprovable, since you never worked a day, you cheat! You made the whole thing up! I will soon find a loophole, Raxle, and fire you like I did the manager who brought you on! Now, please, begin your economic inquiries before I lose what little patience I have left.

RAXLE REYAL: Yes, yes, the businessings! My chief boss-editor tell me that big Trade Federation Market having very much money move around. And you have file! The computer page number! Can you explain to simple peoples like me how many minions being spent?

ZAIR DAREA: Millions, Raxle, millions of credits! Not “minions.” Didn’t I write you a check for three thousand credits last year specifically to enroll in Galactic Basic remedial course? Where is that money?

RAXLE REYAL: [Smiling smugly, shuffling his datapad] Ah, boss-man, that check must got lost in darkness mail system. Never arrive. Very sad. But I go great vacation last year! Anyway, tell me about big number.

ZAIR DAREA: [Inhales deeply] …all right. So the scale of the trade on the galactic markets is astronomical. Let us look at the Factions. The database records 321 active factions. The average faction has spent 97.86 million credits, while earning an average of 639.15 million credits in sales. But these averages pale in comparison to the elite.

RAXLE REYAL: Wow, 639 million minions! That is very lot of low-wage servant work very hard in mine. And who is biggest seller of all? Is it Empire of Galaxy?

ZAIR DAREA: It is Mecrosa, you absolute buffoon! Mecrosa is the undisputed titan of the galactic market. Their total sales stand at a staggering 63,789.00 million credits—that is over 63.7 billion! Mecrosa sells more than any other faction in existence.

Let me show you the Top Three Faction Sellers:

  1. Mecrosa: 63,789.00M credits sold
  2. Baktoid Armour Workshop: 24,052.60M credits sold
  3. Centurion Arms: 20,485.60M credits sold

RAXLE REYAL: Incredible! Mecrosa sold 63 billion minions! But Mr. Diarya, how you fit 63 billion minions inside your Dairy House? They not get crowded and start strike? And this Centurion Arms… they sell actual arms? Like, left arm, right arm?

ZAIR DAREA: [Glares with cold, calculated Neimoidian arrogance] They sell weaponry, Raxle, you useless waste of air! And they are credits, not workers. Mecrosa also sells arms, among other goods! And although I work for Mecrosa, my Zair Darea Trade House is a separate entity, a privately-owned business! Why are you mixing the two again?

RAXLE REYAL: And is all the minion on the TFM?

ZAIR DAREA: If I hear the word “minion” once more, I will personally organize a ten thousand Gamorrean knife fighters match, and pay the winner to come after you! Anyway, yes I’ve based my economic research on the publicly available data of the Trade Federation. Now, look at the individuals. The market has 3,931 registered individuals. The average citizen buys 108.28 million credits and sells 67.71 million. But look at the top spenders. Mecrosa’s esteemed leader, the visionary Dac Kain, has personally bought a colossal 5,314.60 million credits worth of goods. He is a financial deity!

RAXLE REYAL: Ah, yes! Duck Cane! Famous docking manager. He buy many thing. Maybe he buy big duck pond?

ZAIR DAREA: [Teeth grinding] Dac. Kain. He is the leader of Mecrosa and a trade genius. Do not speak his name with your unrefined, challenged tongue until you learn to say it right. Where was I? Ah, yes, top faction sellers. The data shows that the top ten factions by sell value are almost 75% of the entire market.

As you can see from this other graph, the ratio of the sold to bought is about 26, meaning that the factions sell 26 times more than they buy, usually. But the ratio for the top 10 sellers averages at over 150x. The ratio is skewed – for example, IPS which is on the ninth place on the list contributes to that with a ratio of over 500, but they sell only 10% of Mecrosa, whose ratio is just above 15.

Now, let us examine the Top Three Individual Sellers:

  1. Aurelio Quinton: 18,058.70M credits sold / 10,570.80M credits bought (Buy to sell ratio: 0.585)
  2. Gar Bryne: 11,714.50M credits sold / 7,720.90M credits bought (Buy to sell ratio: 0.659)
  3. Riax Tardes: 10,286.00M credits sold / 4,432.70M credits bought (Buy to sell ratio: 0.431)

I must express my deepest… ahem… admiration… for Aurelio Quinton. His strategy of giving away DCs for practically free is… a marvel of marketing strategies. A truly bold experiment. Most traditional, rational businessmen – such as myself – might view giving away your inventory for free as a fast track to bankruptcy. Yet for Mister Quinton, it seems to be working. Many have tried sharing their own inventory for free, but it did not work out for them.

RAXLE REYAL: Oh! Oreo Queen-ton give away Delicious Cakes? For free? And why he give away DC cakes?

ZAIR DAREA: [Slams fist on the table, nearly knocking over a potted orchid] THEY ARE DATACARDS! DCs are Datacards! Not cookies, not chocolate cake, and certainly not political capitals! It is a technology blueprint! Comparing your intellect to a dead porg would be a grave insult to the noble animal!

RAXLE REYAL: [Failing to hide a grin this time] Ah, yes, data cookie. Very good. And what about next group? The… Non-Fraction Goon?

ZAIR DAREA: [Deep, shuddering breath] Non-Faction Groups. NFGs. There are 47 of them. The average NFG buys 50.62 million and sells 104.32 million.
The Top Three NFG Sellers are:

  1. Raptor Cartel (Old Account): 1,707.50M credits sold and 603.80M credits bought.
  2. Galactic Slugging Association: 815.60M credits sold and 251.40M credits bought.
  3. Garuda Trading Network: 605.70M credits sold, 40.50M credits bought.

But as you can see, their average sell-to-buy ratios are 3.24, which indicates that they contribute a lot more of their profits back to the open markets.

RAXLE REYAL: Wow! Slugging Association must be league where peoples move and work very slow! Maybe I go find job there next. And Raptor Cartel… they sell dinosaur? Very scary. I not know market sell lizard.

ZAIR DAREA: [Stands up, tower-tall and trembling with rage] They sell manufactured goods, commodities, and ship hulls! Slugging is mining! Raptors are… [stops, looks at the reporter] You know what? I am done. You have the cognitive capacity of a flatulent porg. I am leaving. I have a shockball training to get to and then I must tend to my orchids to restore my sanity. Do not follow me for another interview, or I will have the yard master test the ion cannons of the next fighter I make on you!

RAXLE REYAL: Thank you, Mr. Zare Dairy! Go play with your shock balls, and your porgs and flower pot. This has been Raxle Reyal, reporting on galactic minions and chocolate cookie for ZDTH Media. Back to studio!
