Unmasked

September 29, 2023

In a display of Zann’s ideals of sowing chaos across the galaxy; a Consortium fleet aided by elements of the Death Watch has conducted yet another raid on the poorly prepared Rebel Alliance in the Kowak system. While most of the Rebellion’s High Command was preoccupied with partying at the Nimban Swap Meet, the Death Watch launched a diversionary attack on Rebel fleet garrisons stationed in the northeast quadrant of Kowak. During this attack, Zann’s main assault fleet commanded by Komoniic Bork Shalas arrived in the southwest. While the Alliance had advanced warning of an impending raid, Rebel pilots were unprepared to fight a battle on two fronts.

Even with the Rebellion having the technological upper hand, multiple squadrons were destroyed by the crime syndicates’ seemingly outdated warships.

“Facing the Rebel Alliance’s advanced tech, we foresaw losses. The rebels expected losses as well, the difference being, that we report our losses while they attempt to conceal theirs. During this skirmish, we destroyed over five dozen rebel fighters. Among those destroyed were A-Wings, B-Wings, and an MC-30b Corvette owned by Jonas Kanateu. As a result of this loss, Jonas Kanateu was forced to eject from his ship. This is the third time now, in two separate operations we’ve shot down high-ranking enemies using allegedly state-of-the-art technology” stated War Commander Bork Shalas.

In addition to the casualties endured by the Alliance during the chaos of the raid, large amounts of salvage were stolen from a Rebel-owned recycling station. These wrecks were swiftly transported to Vaxal to be scrapped and will be repurposed into new ships for Zann’s assault fleet.

Despite casualties on both sides of the conflict, the assault allowed for the identification and detainment of Rebel spy Xilas Hikari. While incarcerated by the Zanndalorians also known as Death Watch, Hikari confessed to being an informant for a Rebel-aligned group trying to sabotage Consortium efforts. While specifics have not been divulged it is believed that Xilas has given up information on his handlers and their current objectives. Some believe the methods of the Zann Consortium’s raid may appear as an ill-advised attack; while others believe the tactical prowess of the Zann Consortium’s overt actions could have some other ulterior motive.
